But an essential element to a great costume drama is obviously great costumes, and Jane Eyre’s costume designer Michael O’Connor hits the bulls-eye with creations that don’t distract from the story, but nonetheless leave you with an urge to buy a cravat/frock-coat combo.

Great screen shot.

The only Jane Eyre movie I’ve seen was made in the late 70’s (for masterpiece) and was too slow/old for me to get into. I heard there was a great one a few years ago, but have yet to see it. I thought that this one was pretty good, however I was surprised that I didn’t cry at the end…I almost always do in all of these movies.
Have you seen it? Thoughts?

An Important Question…

Brontes or Austen?

Dear Masterpiece Boners

I’m sorry I’ve been SO BAD at posting lately. School got CRAZY and I had no time for Masterpiece Marathons. On top of that its FINALLY SPRING BREAK and so I will definitely not be posting for another week. At least there won’t be any new Masterpieces until Upstairs Downstairs which I am SO excited about. Also, in spirit of my trip to Mallorca and George Sand and Chopin’s wonderful (terrible?) winter there I encourage you to watch a terrible (wonderful?) period piece called Impromptu featuring Hugh Grant as Chopin. You won’t (will?) regret it.
